Lasnek Wireway Dividers

Lasnek Wireway Dividers

Within automated production environments there are invariably requirements for mixing voltage cables, running in the same wireway trough. When control voltage and high-voltage power cables are routed in the same trough, electromagnetic interference (EMI) can be induced between conductors, due to the close physical proximity of cables carrying signals with vastly different current, voltage and frequency characteristics.

While this phenomenon is well known by engineers it can be exacerbated by the use of ‘noisy’ control equipment such as inverter drives controlling remotely distributed induction motors.  These drive units produce unwanted ‘noise’ by generating the desired motor frequency from PWM switching methods.

This ‘noise’ is manifest as high frequency currents, which generate both conducted and radiated EMI. To mitigate both its common practice to use insulated or shielded cabling, using suitable earth bonding techniques to reduce unwanted current paths. To reduce any potential air born radiated EMI, it is recommended that metal dividers or barriers are placed between any sensitive low voltage signal cabling and higher voltage carrying cables, such as motor cables controlled by VFD’s. It is possible to fit multiple dividers across wider width troughs if necessary.

Lasnek has a range of metal barriers to suit both Lengths and bends on the NEMA 1 and 4x wire ways. Two types are offered for the lengths, a bolt in version for NEMA 1 perforated troughs and a self adhesive version for solid base type 1 and 4x variants.  With either option the installer can choose the percentage split across the trough width.
