Sports Drink Manufacturer Chooses Lasnek for Wire Basket Tray

A major sport drink producer has recently undertake a $2.1M refit of three bottling lines using Lasnek Wire basket Tray. Originally, the 500ml / 18 FL oz. PET bottles where blow molded off site and de-palletized, with a full sleeve attached to the bottle during the production process. With the change to on site blow molding and the move to a more environmentally friendly recyclable half sleeve, the production line efficiency increased to over a 1000 Bottles p/m.

The conveyor manufacturer undertook the project management of all three production lines, handling the installation and commissioning of all line equipment from the filler through to the robotic palletizers. With the unique layout of the facility, and the proven hygienic advantages of basket over traditional NEMA1 wireway, it was agreed that Lasnek’s XE series stainless steel wire basket tray would be the cable management system of choice.

The contractor installed approximately 200 lengths (1650 ft.) of 304 Stainless Steel wire basket running parallel with the conveyors and associated equipment. While multiple basket widths were used, the contractor typically used trays measuring 8” wide by 2” deep. Where possible, installers mounted each tray with the opening to the side to limit horizontal surface area and prevent unwanted debris build up between the cables.  With the versatility of purchasing lengths only, the electrical contractor created any fitting angle on site by removing the appropriate wires using either a manual or pneumatic cutter.

For clearance, the installation used Lasnek’s unique wire basket offset brackets to support the basket, mounting it to the conveyor side panels and positioning it linearly away from obstacles such as motors and legs.

It is worth noting that prior to the wire basket solution the site used to use traditional NEMA1 wireway and conduit solutions, and while there are advantages of these systems over open tray, for this facility the basket solution has been proven to be quicker, more cost effective, easier to install and more versatile than that of NEMA1.
